The first Northwestern Association Tournament was held in Oakland in October of 1963. This year, on the 2nd weekend of October 2015, casters from Long Beach, Seattle, Pasadena, San Jose, Oakland and Golden Gate (SF) clubs will be vying for medals and bragging rights and enjoying lunch together each day and a Saturday dinner (dinner reservations are required).
The two-day 2015 Northwestern casting tournament starts on Saturday Oct. 10 at the Golden Gate casting ponds and will be held under rules of the Northwestern Tournament Association. With only two point maximum demerits, these rules favor the beginning casters.
This is a fun competition where the casters are placed in one of three divisions: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced for each day's events, which on Saturday includes the fly and plug accuracy events and the two distance events listed in that day's calendar event title. Within a division, you may register to participate in all or any number of these different events.
For all participants, there is a fee of $1.00 per event to be collected at registration. Advance registration is advised, but you may also sign up at least 15 minutes before the start of the tournament on the date of the event.
Registration opens at 8:30am with events starting 9:00am. Advance registration can be made via email to Alice Gillibert (firstname.lastname@example.org)
