Shad Rondy June 7 for Single Hand Rods

A day of Shad fishing on the Sacramento River intended for 12 anglers with single hand rods(included switch rods cast overhead). This is a day trip.

We will meet in Hamilton City at the Irving Finch boat launch   (http://www.dbw.ca.gov/maps/facilityinfo.asp?facilityID=974). Pay the day parking fee. Boats will depart by 12:00 pm on Tuesday.

Gear--The single hand rods should be 6-8wt & stiff enough to throw 30 ft shooting heads. Carry Type 2-6 shooting heads. leaders are relatively short, 6-7 ft in length. The fish are not leader shy so you can go with 10-12# tippet. In June there is a good chance the fish will be up higher in the water column in the evening so a type 2-3 will work better than 4-6. If you bring just one line, make it a type 4.The guides will have shad flies if you need them.

Bring waders, boots, hats, polarized sun glasses, sunscreen, layered clothing and rain gear. Hot temperatures or high water could change the dates of this Rondy.

Dinner & water will be provided by the guides (http://orlandoutfitters.com). Most of us buy a sandwich in Orland to eat before the boats arrive.

You need the ability to cast a 30 ft shooting head. Anglers will be expected to rotate positions when wading so everyone can catch fish.
