Lake Almanor is a large reservoir in northwestern Plumas County (northeastern CA). The reservoir has a capacity of 1,308,000 acre-feet and a maximum depth of 90 feet. Our leader John has been fishing at Lake Almanor for one week each year for the past 25 years and has caught more large trout fly fishing here than any other place west of Montana.

There is room for 8 fly fishers on this Rondy.

The fishing can be done either wading from shore or with your private watercraft (from float tube to motor boat).

We will be stripping streamers & soft hackles, fishing dry flies, and drifting nymphs at the mouths of the Hamilton Branch and Feather Rivers. Bring 6-8 wt fly rods, with both floating and sinking fly lines.

Normal fly fishing experience is required. Not for "Learn to Fly Fish" participants or beginners.

Lodging options are camping, motels, or renting a house. This will be determined by the group going on the Rondy. There will be a pre-meeting a month or two before the Rondy (tbd).   Carpooling options will be discussed at the pre-meeting.

The cost for they Rondy is a $10 fee, plus the cost of lodging & meals.
