This Rondy, for 3-6 anglers, will take place in Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park . The famed park contains pristine, clear, glacier-fed (cold!) waters which are home to wild Cutthroat, Rainbow, Brook, and Brown Trout.

Participants must bring their own backpacking and fishing gear. The guide will provide our food and bear canisters, which every person must carry. They also need to set up their own tent and hydrate their own freeze-dried meals.

Participants must be experienced backpackers and be fit enough for a moderate-to-difficult 4 to 6 mile one-way hike with up to 2,000 foot elevation gain at altitudes from 8,000 to 11,000 feet. Most of the hiking will occur on trails that are maintained by the National Park Service. However, guides may take us on unmaintained off-trail paths to fish some high mountain lakes and streams.

Our guides will take us to and from the trailhead, lead us to the campsite, show us where to fish, supply the flies, and provide food consisting of freeze-dried meals. They will also provide Jetboil stoves for heating water and filters for treating our drinking water.

On the first day, we will hike to the campsite, set up camp and fish the evening hatch. This will be followed by two full days of fishing. On these days, we will hike to different nearby lakes and streams. On the last day, we will fish for a few hours, break camp and hike out.  DUE TO THE ALTITUDE, NO ALCOHOL WILL BE ALLOWED ON THIS RONDY.

The nearest airport is Denver International Airport (DIA). We will meet at the Courtyard Marriott Boulder-Longmont (1410 Dry Creek Drive, Longmont, CO 80502) on the afternoon or evening of Friday 7/22. We will be picked up from the hotel on Saturday 7/23 at 4:45AM and return back to the hotel on Tuesday 7/26 at 5:30PM.

The total fee for this rondy is $640, which includes the guides, food, camping permits, guide shuttle, and guide tips. The costs for travel to Boulder, CO; hotel rooms; airport shuttles; non-resident fishing licenses; and the meals before and after backpacking are not included in this fee total.

A brochure that describes details of the travel, airport transportation, hotel, schedule, location and backpacking & fishing gear is available. There will be a pre-Rondy teleconference at a tbd date in June to discuss the final logistics.
