Steelhead Spey on Oregon's Deschutes River - Group 1.

This event is being offered by Bob Pauli to only those who are graduates of GGACC's "Spey Angler Program". 

Description:  

Steelhead Spey fish-out - a professionally managed camp-out for 3 nights with 3 days of guided fishing using jet boat transportation on Oregon's Deschutes River.

Dates:  Group 1:  August 17-20, 2016  (Grp 2: August 21-24, 2016).

Price:

$1860 per angler. On returning home, participants who are graduates of GGACC’s Spey Angler Program will be rebated $150 from GGACC’s Spey fund. Net cost will be $1710, a real bargain for such an on-the-river camping and steelhead angling experience with top-flight guides.

Location:

Deschutes River permanent camp downstream of Macks Canyon, reached from Maupin, Oregon.

Group 1:  8 anglers, Bob Pauli Host (Spey Angler Program #72.1)

- Meet at Macks Canyon at 2PM, on Wednesday, August 17. This is a one-hour drive from Maupin, Oregon, where most folks will stay overnight on Aug. 16.

- Depart Macks Canyon at 1PM, on Saturday, August 20.

Where is Maupin, Oregon?

From Portland airport (PDX), Maupin is a 121 mile drive east. It is recommended to stay in Maupin the night before the start of your trip.  Most folks will fly home on the night of departure.

Lodging in Maupin:  Imperial River Company (www.deschutesriver.com); River Run Lodge (www.riverrunlodge.net); Deschutes Motel (www.deschutesmotel.com).

River Transportation:

By 3 jet boats with 3 anglers per guide/jet boat. Wade only fishing with Spey rods. 

Gear:

6-, 7-, 8-wt Spey rods with floating line/head, sink tip head/tips, leaders 0x - 1x.  Flies classic hair wings, skaters, leeches. 

Licenses:

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife — online.

Package Includes:

Guided fishing, 3 anglers per guide with jet boat, tent camp accommodations, tents and cots for sleeping. Meals included are:  day 1 dinner, day 2 three meals, day 3 three meals, day 4 breakfast and lunch. Flies when needed. Water, coffee, tea, sodas. One large dry bag and one small dry bag.

Not Included:  Sleeping bag, pillow, alcohol.

Skills Required:

Ability to Spey cast floating line and sink tip with fly to a distance of 70’ while wading in knee deep water.

Typical Day:

- 5AM:  coffee ready

- 5:30AM:  continental breakfast 

- 6-11AM:  fish

- 12 noon:  streamside lunch

- 12 noon - 3:30PM:  after lunch, stream siesta (fish don’t like direct sunlight), fish if you desire, hike, relax

- 3:30PM to 6: fish

- 6:30PM:  arrive camp; appetizers, dinner prepared by our chef.

- 7:30PM:  dessert, coffee, evening fishing

- 9:30PM:  dark arrives, cocktail time

Each day we will cover about 10 miles of river, and camp at our permanent camp site.

Camp has toilet, showers, dining room tent, sleeping tents (one 4-person size tent for each 2 anglers).

Who is Little Creek Outfitters?

LCO is owned by Marty and (multiple time Spey-O-Rama Champion) Mia Sheppard.  Our guides will be Marty Sheppard, Travis Johnson (Spey-O-Rama Champion and one of the best Spey casters in the world), and another high-level Deschutes guide.
