Casting Instructor Continuing Education

  • 09 Apr 2017
  • 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Center & East Casting Ponds, and Angler's Lodge Board Room

There will be a Continuing Education program for Casting Instructors on Sunday April 9, 2017 hosted by the Golden Gate Angling & Casting Club in San Francisco, California.

This special seminar will feature instruction by Macauley Lord, MCI, CBOG Emeritus, and former Head Instructor at the LL Bean School of Fly Fishing in Freeport, Maine and Willy George, MCI, CBOG, and President of the Golden Gate Angling & Casting Club (GGACC).

The seminar will include use of video casting analysis with tablet computers and the casting analyzer accelerometer first introduced by Bruce Richards & Noel Perkins.  All attendees will have the opportunity to have their casting analyzed using both of these revolutionary techniques while casting on the famous Golden Gate casting ponds.

This seminar is intended for both certified casting instructors (CI, MCI, and THCI) as well as current CI Candidates and any skilled casters who wish to take their casting to the next level including the possibility of becoming a certified casting instructor.  There will be information available about the CI, MCI, and THCI Prep Programs at GGACC.  This seminar is free and open to the public.  Participants should bring their favorite rod, reel, and line with a leader and yarn fly along with a hat, jacket, rain jacket (if needed), and glasses (for eye protection).

Please register for this Casting Instructor CE Program at Golden Gate by sending an email to Willy George at  busygeorges@aol.com

Casters and instructors at all levels are also invited to participate in GGACC’s Annual Mel’s Day being held the day before, on Saturday April 8 from 9:30 AM - 12 noon followed by a free lunch.  Each year GGACC honors the memory of Mel Krieger, one of our most famous members, as part of the Club’s monthly free casting lessons open to the public.  As a special treat this year, one of Mel’s most well known “mentorees,” Macauley Lord will be participating for the first time in Mel’s Day and will share some of his memories of his mentor and Mel's teachings about casting instruction.  With over 125 students expected, we can definitely use all of the certified casting instructor help we can get, so let Willy know if you can also join us for Mel’s Day.
