There are two (2) one-day Steelhead guided "float trip" rondies planned for the Trinity River.  This one will be on Saturday, November 4, 2017. The second rondy will be on Sunday, November 5  (sign up for the second on a separate event page).

The plan is to have participants for both Trinity Rondies 1&2 attend a no-host dinner Saturday night at the new restaurant in Indian Creek Lodge since many of each group are likely to try to stay at this lodge (on CA-299 east of Douglas City, CA) and it is really too far to drive up there on the morning of the rondy to be able to arrive timely or to drive home that night after a long day on the water.  We also caution you to make your own lodging reservations early.

We held similar back-to-back float trips the past two years. They were generally a success -- good guides, a few fish caught (more the previous year than last), and we had a great get-together at dinner.

There are several options for fishing for Steelhead in the fall: 1) Indicator nymph fishing using a 5-7 wt. single hand fly rod with floating line and Fluorocarbon tippet (from 1X-4X) below an indicator of your choice and split-shot as needed;  2) Swinging steelhead flies with a 6-8 wt single hand rod with a floating or intermediate head or sink tip and short 9-12# mono tippet;  and 3) Swinging steelhead flies with a 5-7 wt Spey rod with a floating or intermediate fly line or sink tip, and again using a short 9-12# mono tippet.

This Rondy is for experienced anglers ONLY and is NOT for current participants in the Learn to Fly Fish Program or other beginners.

There will be a Steelhead Clinic presented by George Revel at the clubhouse (date tbd). Gear and trip logistics will be covered in detail there.

The weather can be very cold. Bring multi-layers and good rain gear.

The cost is $262.50, which includes a non-refundable $25 fee for this one day Rondy, which covers the guide cost (& lunch), but not the guide's gratuity. To sign up for the Saturday, November 4th Rondy 1, simply register & pay on this webpage. (To sign up for the Sunday, November 5th Rondy 2, click on that event on the club events calendar.)
