Preplanning Meeting and Casting Clinic for the two Fall River "Traditional Fly Fishing" Rondies I & II to be held this spring (May 25-26) and summer (July 24-25). These rondies can be found on the club calendar on May 24 and July 23, respectively, since they each start with a dinner meeting on the evening before the first day of fishing.
Agenda for the Saturday, January 28, 2017 pre-meeting:
-- Traditional Fly Fishing: What does it mean and why should one pursue it.
-- Technique and Gear: Rods (soft is better than fast), lines, flies, and especially leaders.
--Casting skills will be discussed. Program will be followed by a casting clinic.
Gear: Casting participants should bring a soft /medium action 9' long 4-6wt rod with a floating line that will cast 50 feet with a 15-20 foot leader. For wet flies, the best rods are 9' (+/-) lg. 5-6wt rods with soft / medium action that will cast an intermediate sink line or shooting head 60 feet with a 15-20 foot leader. No waders or boots required.
Please REGISTER for this event so that we get an accurate count of expected participants. Registrants in one of the two 2017 Fall River Rondies will be given preference for personal casting instruction.
