A day of Shad fishing on the Sacramento River that's limited to 6 anglers with basic Spey casting skills. This is a day trip, as most people are likely to drive home afterward (roughly a 2 hour drive time).
We will meet in Hamilton City at the Irving Finch boat launch (http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=463). Pay the day parking fee at the entrance to this State Rec Area (self-pay required if not attended -- bring small bills and a pen to fill out pay envelope). Jet boats will take us to a sandbar (where we will wade out to fish) and do not return us to the parking area until dark. Boats may leave a little early if they fill up and the last boat departs the boat ramp at 12:00 noon -- so don't be late!
Gear--bring any spey rod with "sink tips in various sink rates (intermediate, type 3, 6 & 8)". Six foot leaders of 10# or stronger Maxima.
Bring waders, boots, hats, polarized sun glasses, sunscreen, headlamp, layered clothing, and rain gear. (Note: Either too hot temperatures or too high water could cancel or change the date of this Rondy.)
Dinner and water will be provided by the guides (http://orlandoutfitters.com). Most of us will buy a sandwich in Orland to eat before the boats arrive.
The cost for this Rondy is $175, which includes a $25 non-refundable Rondy fee. Not included are the guide gratuities, lunch, parking fee, or any travel or lodging expense.
