The Anglers Lodge locker room is reserved for this event on this evening.
This is the 1st of (6) Thursday night sessions for this Rod Building Workshop #11, taught by Larry Kenney or one of more of his proteges and offered to currently active club members only (dues paid for the .
There are currently two separate classes (Workshops #10 & 11) posted on the club calendar, but each workshop is offered on a different set of nights or dates. The registrants for this Workshop #11 may NOT attend any sessions of the other workshop without prior written approval from that second session's instructor. Note: There will be NO class on Thurs., January 10, 2019 (while components are sourced).
Learn to build a fly rod by doing it.
Participants will be taken through everything from choosing and purchasing a blank and components to installing reel seats, making cork grips, wrapping guides and finishing guide wraps. There is no fee for this class, but the participants are responsible for acquiring their own blanks, components, and a few simple tools -- which will be discussed in the first class.
This class does NOT currently support the building of two-handed rods (switch or Spey) for lack of the proper equipment (a lathe large enough for turning the longer handles). So only single-handed rods can be constructed in this class.
Members may take this class multiple times, but only if there is no one waitlisted for it up to one week before the first class session. If there is someone on the waitlist prior to that, that person will be allowed to take the spot of any registrant who has taken the class previously and the latter person will be added to the bottom of the waitlist and alerted, along with others on that waitlist, to the posting of the next class.
This Jan. 3 through Feb. 14, 2019 Workshop #11 is limited to 7 club members via online registration only. Register for this FIRST class session ONLY for enrollment in all 6 sessions of Workshop #11.
If there is no large Register button showing on the left side of this screen now, the class has filled. However, you may wish to sign the online Wait List since any drop-outs before the first session will be replaced from this list in the order that they signed it. The Wait List will only be generated when the registration closes because the class has filled. Those on the Wait List for this class may also be contacted about their interest in any future class when that has been scheduled.
Class dates and the expected subjects to be covered and the corresponding class activity in each session for this workshop are:
Jan. 3 - Introduction -- Choosing the right blank and components
Jan. 17 - Assembling components -- Reel seats/Cork
Jan. 24 - Making the grip -- Cork/Turn
Jan. 31 - Rod wrapping -- Wrap
Feb. 7 - Rod wrapping --Wrap/Coat
