NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO START AT 8:30 AM NOW DUE TO THE BLUEGRASS MUSIC FESTIVAL BEING HELD IN GOLDEN GATE PARK THIS DATE.
The LTFF Program is excited to offer its first ever Introduction to Tenkara Workshop taught by GGACC club member and Skills Building Program chair, Garth Thompson on Sunday morning, October 7, 2018 from 10:00-11:30am now 8:30-10:00am.
We hope to continue to make this workshop part of the regular LTFF Beginner Class' instruction in the future, but the Beginners will have to sign up quickly this year when the online calendar registration is opened at 12 noon on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Since the other two current classes were not offered this instruction previously, they will be invited to take any remaining spots shortly after the registration opens. Registration is necessarily limited for this free event to the first 16 current LTFF students to register.
Tenkara is traditional form of fly fishing from Japan that has recently seen a growing popularity in the States. It uses extremely lightweight rods with a fixed line, and is both fun and affordable. This workshop will cover the basics of Tenkara fly fishing during a classroom presentation that will include information on the history, gear, knots, and tactics that are often used. We will review the knots and different rigging techniques in class, then move out to the ponds so that people can get some hands-on experience with casting of several different Tenkara rods.
Workshop Limit: 16
