Rondy:  Alaska

Dates:  September 20-22, 2019

Leader:  Michael Souter  mailto:mks@luminae-souter.com

Number of anglers (excludes leader):  7

Description:  This Rondy is a 3-day guided float fly-fishing adventure on the scenic and famous Kenai River in Alaska where we will fly-fish for big Alaska size Rainbow and Dolly Varden Trout and Silver Salmon. Guides will drift through through miles of scenic water in custom built power drift boats where we will predominately nymph egg patterns for Trout and strip for Silvers. We will periodically take out to swing depending on water levels so bring your Spey rod if interested. Boots with felt soles are not allowed in Alaska and studs are not allowed in boats so rubber soles are your best option. There will be one guide and boat for every 2 anglers. They will provide top-quality fly-fishing gear and flies but not Spey rods. Snacks, water and a hot lunch will also be provided each day.

We can meet and carpool from Anchorage airport to Cooper Landing, which is about 100 miles south of Anchorage (2 hours) or meet in Cooper Landing depending on preference. Lodging can be arranged at the Hutch in Cooper Landing https://www.thehutchbandb.com/ which includes a continental breakfast. Our guides will meet us each morning then shuttle to launch site for an exciting day of fishing.

As we get closer, we will have a meeting to discuss more details including equipment, lodging, car pools, room sharing, etc. In the meantime, you can get more details and check out the fish photos on the Silent Run website at http://silentrunak.com/

Here are some things not included that you should budget for in addition to the rondy fee:

  • Lodging at the Hutch $109-129 for room that sleeps 2 (single occupancy is same price)
  • Airfare cost approximately $500 RT from SFO to ANC
