LTFF Get to know your Gear (Gear Day)

This event is intended specifically for students currently registered for the 2023 Learn To Fly Fish Program

2023 LTFF Students--join me to do a "dry run" on setting up and using your gear for a fly fishing outing!   Level 1 students---this is you!

The first time or two that you go out fly fishing can get pretty confusing as you try to figure out how to properly setup and use all of that cool new gear you just bought!

Probably the worst time to really get tuned into how to configure everything is the 30 minutes before you start fishing on the day.   It really does take a bit of thought, experimentation, and time to figure out the optimal set up FOR YOU.   Probably a shopping trip or two as well.

Let's take some time to go through all of this and dry run your setup.   We will meet at 6:30pm on May 23rd in front of Angler's Lodge.  From there we will proceed to the parking lot and my truck and I will go through my process for setting myself up to fish, including waders, pack and rod setup.   Once we complete that, I encourage everyone to bring their own gear and do the same process---including packing it away as you would at the end of the day.

Like most things fly fishing---there is not only one way!   I will share how I do it, the mistakes I've made along the way, and how I continue to optimize my setup.   Learn from my mistakes, get your questions answered, discover how your gear works, and bring a pen and notebook to jot down your shopping list!

Our goal is to make your first (?) or your next fishout go much more smoothly, safely and enjoyable!   Join us for a few hours on Tuesday evening!
